Our mission and goals

Mission

To be an international leader in building the capability of individuals, organisations and the community to understand, prevent, reduce and recover from the adverse mental health effects of trauma. The general mental health of past and present members of the defence community is also a key priority. We will achieve this through research, education and training, and the provision of policy and service improvement advice.

Main Goals

  1. Advance the knowledge of trauma and posttraumatic mental health, as well as general mental health in the defence community, through a program of research and evaluation.
  2. Advance awareness, knowledge and skills in the area of posttraumatic mental health, as well as general mental health in the defence community, through education and training initiatives.
  3. Provide policy and service improvement advice on posttraumatic mental health, as well as general mental health in the defence community.

Enabling Goals

  1. Enhance the national and international profile and influence of ACPMH.
  2. Foster growth through increased customer diversity, strategic alliances with national and international organisations and interstate expansion.
  3. Ensure sustainable outcomes through best practice business planning and operational management.
